Mashakbeen Studios began in 2021 as a London-based creative house with its home in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. We come from the hills, and our work is built around one thing: promoting our Pahad and culture through cinema and music that actually means something.
From the heart of the Himalayas to screens across the world, we serve as a cultural bridge between what is local and what is global. No compromises on authenticity. No dilution. Just real stories, told by the people who live them.
From the heart of the Himalayas to international platforms, one story at a time.
It all started with one song. In March 2021, we put out "Buraans" and had no idea what would follow. The track caught on fast. By December that same year, we had crossed a million views. That was the moment we knew this was not just a side project. It was something people actually wanted.
The momentum never stopped. Today, Mashakbeen has put out 48+ songs, and each one has crossed that million-view mark. That kind of consistency is not luck. It is the result of an audience that trusts us to keep delivering what is real.
"The stories from our hills have always been good enough. We just make sure they get the stage they deserve."
The name Mashakbeen comes from the traditional instrument that carries the sound of our mountains. That is the spirit behind every project. We take where we come from seriously, but we are not afraid of modern tools and new audiences. The two things work together fine.
By 2025, we had also launched Mashakbeen Post-Production Studio, successfully completing and releasing several projects, with many more in the pipeline. What began as a small effort in Uttarakhand is now crossing borders. Every film we shoot and every song we record is our way of keeping our heritage alive, and inviting the rest of the world to pay attention.
The Mashakbeen Family
The reason we show up every day, and the future we are building toward.
We want to become the first place the world looks when it wants authentic folk, cultural, and contemporary stories from India. That means bringing forgotten voices and timeless traditions to international platforms where they belong. Not as museum pieces, but as living, breathing art that people actually want to watch and listen to.
Our mission is to keep our cultural heritage alive while making it accessible to global audiences through film, music, and digital storytelling. We do not believe preservation means locking things in a vault. It means recording them properly, producing them honestly, and distributing them strategically so the right people find them at the right time.
Rooted in tradition, reaching the world
How we went from one song in the hills to a growing creative house
We started in 2021 with no blueprint, just a belief that stories from Uttarakhand deserved better than local whispers. Today, Mashakbeen is one of the fastest-growing music platforms in the region, with three active channels and a team that operates across two countries.
What actually sets us apart from every other studio in the region
We stay true to our cultural roots, traditions, and regional voices. Then we present them in a way the world can actually relate to.
Rooted in Pahadi culture with a global address. Our stories travel because they are honest, not because they are watered down.
Professional production that meets international standards. Creative leadership that balances tradition with modernity without sacrificing either.
A platform for emerging and unheard voices. We give artists real recognition and room to grow, not just a recording slot.
Every project is crafted not just for entertainment, but to carry real meaning and emotion. We make content that actually stays with people.
Our flagship Folk Studio project is India's answer to Coke Studio, but with the soul rooted in pure folk traditions. No dilution. No forced fusion. Just authenticity, reimagined.
Collaborations that actually go somewhere, not just look good on paper.
Content strategy, production, and campaign management for entertainment and media partners who want to reach audiences that actually care.
End-to-end music creation from songwriting to mastering, plus digital distribution across Spotify, Apple Music, and our three YouTube channels with proven reach.
Full production support: filming, editing, VFX, sound design, and color grading. From folk horror features to documentary tributes like our current project on Kamala Devi.
Our flagship Folk Studio records pure folk music in authentic settings without dilution. Perfect for heritage projects, cultural festivals, and organizations that value tradition over trends.
"We do not do partnerships for press releases. We do them because we have the team, the channels, and the audience to make something real happen."

Mashakbeen Studios is led by Suresh Joshi, a producer who built this creative house from the ground up with one clear idea: the stories from our hills deserve the same stage as anything coming out of Mumbai or London.
Under his leadership, the team has grown from a single release in 2021 to over 40 songs crossing a million views each, three active YouTube channels, and a pipeline that includes feature films, documentaries, and the flagship Folk Studio project. He brings the balance that makes Mashakbeen work: respect for where we come from, and the ambition to take it everywhere.
